I have been engaged throughout my life in the pursuit of Truth and what the essence of my Being is. From the roots of Catholicism through forays into Buddhism, New Age theisms, and philosophy, I finally came to the Science of Kundalini Yoga where I have found Home and a practice which takes me where I want to Be.
The practice of this style of yoga began in 1974 with drop-in classes several times a week or regular practice on my own as I traveled, until 1976 when I decided to go all in and joined the Kundalini ashram in East Dallas and bring my practice to a full time experience.
In the Dallas ashram setting I worked and studied yoga and began teaching classes. But in 1996 under the guidance of Yogi Bhajan I took the first Master’s Touch Teacher Training and began to teach earnestly and with an authority gained from that experience which I had not felt before.
I have been in Austin since 1990 and taught in various venues until 1998 when Yoga Yoga opened its first studio. I have been teaching drop-in classes and workshops ever since. In the early part of 2000 I became involved in presenting the Austin Kundalini Teacher Training Program with Mehtab and Laura Benton as a Professional level trainer. Training teachers and teaching yoga on any level is a significant aspect of my life that allows me to feed and live my drive to master yoga, the union of individual consciousness with the Divine.
I have been playing music since I was a teenager during the explosive popularity of folk music and have been playing the gong since 1999. Blending the practice of Yoga with music, mantra, and the healing effects of the gong brings a depth of experience which I can only describe as sublime.
Come along with me on a journey of breath, movement, sound and meditation which I hope will bring as much discovery, fulfillment and satisfaction to you as this practice has given to me.
